Overview
The National Center of Incident Readiness and Strategy for Cybersecurity (NISC) is a Japanese government agency that leads Japan’s national efforts in developing cybersecurity policy and coordinating action across government agencies and the private sector.
Originally established in 2005 as the National Information Security Center, NISC took on its current form in 2015 under the Cybersecurity Strategic Headquarters, a body established by the Japanese Cabinet to oversee national cybersecurity policy. The Headquarters brings together senior government officials and experts from academia and the private sector to shape national cybersecurity policy.
In addition to its policy role, NISC serves as the government’s national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), working closely with JPCERT/CC, which supports private sector organizations. Together, they coordinate responses to cybersecurity threats across sectors.
